The music of Phyllis Hyman was, is, and will always be the epitome of “Grown Folk’s” music. As I’ve revisited much of her catalog this week, I’ve had an opportunity to really listen to the stories she told. Felt much of the raw emotion and related to the passionate approach she brought to each song she sang. I don’t know…maybe my ears are becoming even more refined. Seasoned if you will. Whatever the case…I find myself really diggin her all the more right about now and with last month’s re-issue of her sophomore classic album, “Somewhere in My Lifetime,” I’m suggesting you take a fresh listen to it along with her countless other classics.
Allow me to make a few suggestions:

(Alright…so yeah, I got carried away! Just listen to them!!)
Until next time…sang Phyllis!
