Ok, so on my drive this morning—I found myself jammin. And when I say jammin, I mean on the one! Song after song. It had to be 3 or 4 songs in a row…JAMMIN. I even caught myself working my shoulders in a fashion that was surely reminiscent of something we’ve all seen Thelma and/or Michael Evans attempt on Good Times. You know the move, complete with the tilted head and tooted up lips. Anyway, I had to check myself and the radio dial to see what station I was listening to, cause this type of (shhhhh) does NOT happen every day. It was then that I realized who/what was makin’ me move–The Groove on Sirius XM. By far, this has become my go-to satellite station. And this impromptu jam session provided me with my song of the day. Now, granted, this song may not have gotten a ton of airplay in your neck of the woods, but it certainly got its fair share around my way in 1985. And the group that was responsible for today’s pick is most noted for songs like Don’t Disturb This Groove and You Are In My System, which were both my jams. However, its their funky r&b track, This is For You, that I’ve selected as my song of the day. Listen, reminisce and enjoy! (and don’t forget to move those shoulders a time or two!)
(By the way, did you know that Mic Murphy and David Frank (the duo that formed The System) met while working for the band KLEER?! Well if you didn’t, now you do!)
Until Next Time,
-TL
