Song of the day…A Flashback!

I bet you’re wondering who these dudes are, aren’t you? Well…keep reading!

I was on my way home tonight, preparing to sit down and “talk” to y’all about what I’d chosen for my song of the day and then these fellas crossed my mind. And it’s interesting, because by 2pm, I’d already selected my featured song. I was done. My previous selection was an artist that I stumbled across earlier, while listening to the on-demand, internet radio station “Grooveshark.com.” In fact, I was quite pleased to have been re-acquainted with it.

But, as things would turn out…there was another song that came to mind as I was pulling up in the driveway tonight. Not quite sure what triggered me to think about this one??? It wasn’t on the radio? Didn’t hear anyone talking about it, nor did I read about it??? It just popped into my mind.

What y’all know about Tavares?

Straight out of New Bedford, Massachusetts, this band of brothers had a string of hits that spanned four genres of music: disco, funk, soul and r&b. You probably remember them for hits like “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel,” “It Only Takes A Minute” or “She’s Gone.” But for me, “Never Had a Love Like This Before” is what I think of immediately when I hear the name Tavares.

Hmmm? Wonder if it’s too late to send TV-One a suggestion for the next season of “UnSung?” Hmmmph, if they’d take it…I’d have a laundry list of unsung music heroes for them to feature faster than they could pull up a song on YouTube!

Anyway, finish out the work week strong music-heads! Listen to music that makes you smile.
