Happy New Year Music Lovers!
I hope this post finds you, “…caught up in the newness” of 2011 and that you find a way to sustain this state of mind all year long. Over the holidays, I did some thinking and planning for this blog and I must say–ya’ girl is super-excited about what’s to come! And of course, you know I listened to my fair share of MUSIC! Do you HEAR WHAT I HEAR?!? If not, you will!
So, let me share what’s new! Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Jessica Reedy! That’s right, Jessica Reedy…the young lady with that stirred the souls of many, as she sang her way to the number two spot on BET’s hit show–Sundays Best. Remember her voice? Ooooh! She has a contralto like no other! During our chat, Jessica, who’s a native of Saginaw, MI, opened up about everything from her voice, to what we can expect from her upcoming CD project:
HWIH: During your time on Sundays Best, what was your most memorable moment?
JR: There were many memorable moments on the show, but the one that stood out most was looking into the audience and seeing the look of disbelief (and tears) on my mother’s face. She never dreamed something like this would happen to me.
HWIH: As you continue to grow as an artist and in your relationship with God, what lessons have you learned along the way?
JR: I’m learning the importance of prayer and fasting. It’s refreshing to hear from Him so clearly. My prayer time brings me comfort and helps me feel truly connected to Him. I’ve also learned that I must be obedient when I sing. I had to learn to get out of the way once the song is finished, and let the Holy Spirit continue to minster to the hearts of the people.
HWIH: What’s next for you now that you’ve signed a record deal with Light Records?
JR: I’m blessed to have found a home at Light Records. I’d gone through the process with several other labels before God led me to Light. Now I’m ready to focus on my debut CD and making sure that it has plenty of “heart” music. I want the songs to be full of material that allows others to learn from my life’s experiences.
I don’t know about you, but I’m eagerly awaiting to hear more from Jessica Reedy in 2011!!! And as I HEAR more, you’ll HEAR more!
